The registry was founded in 2000 by Peggy Stockbridge, a sport horse breeder in New York State. Through her study of bloodlines, she learned that the Percheron draft horse was not always the massive animal it is today. Centuries ago, in the early days of the breed in Europe, Percherons were highly infused with Arabian blood.
